Ray Rosher
Legend and Angler, Lights Out Boston AC
Born in Miami, Capt. Ray Rosher began working as a mate in July 1979 under Capt. Bob Lewis, who held the patent for the first fishing kite. Ray started fishing full time in the summer of 1980. He ran a 38-foot Bertram Tropicat for Kelly Tractor for around 20 years. In 1999, Ray built his first charter boat, Miss Britt.
Fishing has been good to Ray and he has seen the world because of it, “Of course, fishing with my dad and grandfather are memories that I treasure,” he says. “But as far as great locations, Bermuda, Cape Verde, and Australia are places that create memories that are hard to forget!”
Today he runs several Miss Britt charter boats out of Coconut Grove. Having won 33 first-place finishes in billfish tournaments, and six world or series championships, Ray was inducted into the IGFA Hall of Fame in 2023.
Ray met Capt. Rob Carmichael years ago and feels fortunate to be asked to join the team for the 2025 SFC tournament season, one full of excitement. “In Ocean City [at the MidAtlantic] this year we had a white marlin jump in the boat,” he recalls. “It was pretty wild moment!”
The excitement of the SFC Tournament circuit suits Ray just fine, and fits with his great attitude. “Let the good Time roll!” Ray says. “It was a great season and I’m looking forward to more of the same…”
