Lights Out Boston and YMCA of the North Shore Team Up for Kids Fishing Event
Lights Out Boston Angling Club was thrilled to partner with the YMCA of the North Shore to bring an unforgettable fishing event for teens to Gloucester. This family-friendly gathering introduced teens from Gloucester, Boston, and Haverhill—including those who may not have the opportunity otherwise—to the excitement and experience of ocean fishing on a charter boat.
At Lights Out Boston, fishing is more than a sport—it’s a way of life. The club has a community mission to help kids get out on the water and learn about the ocean while experiencing the challenge and excitement that fishing on the ocean provides. With the YMCA’s commitment to youth development, this partnership ensures the event will be as enriching as it is exciting.
“Fishing is about so much more than catching fish,” said Drew Dolben, team owner of Lights Out Boston Angling Club. “It’s about enjoying time on the water, getting out on a boat, learning something new, and seeing the ocean in a whole new way. We’re proud to help kids make memories that last a lifetime.”
The YMCA of the North Shore shares Lights Out Boston’s vision of giving kids opportunities to explore, grow, and connect with the natural world. Together, they invited the community to come out, cast a line, and be part of something meaningful last week.
Gerald MacKillop, COO of the YMCA of the North Shore said, “This collaboration with Lights Out Boston Angling Club is such a great way to engage teens and tweens, educate them about the ocean, and connect them with opportunities in and around the water. Special shout out to our friends at the Greater Boston Y for joining our Haverhill Y and Gloucester Y for this special day. The kids had a great time, and they couldn’t have had a better day to be out on the ocean.”
